George Daka, a social studies teacher at Bensalem HS, has been selected as the PA Council for Social Studies Secondary Teacher of the Year for 2008!  Congratulations to George for an amazing accomplishment!

Valley teachers Leslie Fleming, Kelly McGowan, and Anne Evans created the "Fit for Life" program to promote healthy eating.  Valley Elementary School received a Golden Apple Award from the PA Dept. of Education for innovation in education!

Christian Heine, 5th grade teacher at Cornwells, was selected as one of 12 finalists for the 2008 PA Teacher of the Year!  Way to go Chris!

The Bensalem Township Education Association, BTEA, is the certified bargaining unit which represents the teachers, guidance counselors, certified school nurses and interim teachers of the Bensalem Township School District.  The BTEA is affiliated with the Pennsylvania State Education Association, PSEA, and the National Education Association, NEA.

Our mission is to promote the quality education of our students and protect the rights of our members.

 Just For The Kids Foundation Minimize

a_JTFK.jpgThe Just For The Kids Educational Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization working with individuals, businesses and grant-making organizations to support educational programs and new initiatives.  By working with these groups the foundation gathers financial and volunteer resource necessary to support and enhance educational programs for the students in Bensalem public schools.  Teachers and administrators within the school district will be eligible to apply for classroom project funding to fund new and innovative instructional programs.

The goals of the foundation are to:

·         Enhance and expand student learning experiences

·         Nurture creative and innovative educational practices

·         Promote life-long enrichment in all areas of learning

·         Provide opportunities to invest in a strong public school system

·         Strengthen connections between businesses, the community and the Bensalem Township School District

The bowlathon to raise money for Just for the Kids will be April 29th.

The Corbett Administration finally agreed to provide the financially-strapped Chester Upland School District with the funds it needs to keep its doors open, but the governor's unprecedented, draconian state funding cuts are wreaking havoc in school districts across the state.

Chester Upland Teachers, support staff thank legislators for working to secure funding to keep district schools open

Leaders of the school employee unions representing teachers and support staff in the Chester Upland School District released a January 23 statement thanking state legislators who worked to secure an agreement with Gov. Tom Corbett to avert the district’s looming financial crisis.
